SHORT SONGS The idea of the short form art song came to me one night while sitting at a cafe in Amsterdam with a musician friend. A commercial came on the TV screen above the bar as we ate and spoke. It was an ANWB ad using my original recording of People Gotta Move. Sure I was a bit tickled, but more importantly, quite amazed how the whole thing came together so entertainingly. As I watched I suddenly envisioned a whole new avenue of music composition. I begged the question to myself, what if singer/songwriters would take this medium so seriously as to devote and give their best to it, turning what is considered by most as a lesser art form, into a leading one. I mean to take it as seriously as composing for a major CD release, or movie soundtrack. Upon a few conversations with John, who immediately shared the same vision, Tunes On Tap was born.
